Remedial Therapy

Pain, altered posture and reduced mobility are the driving factors for people to have Remedial treatments.

As a Remedial Therapist I combine all the therapy training that I have done as well as the experience of being a Manual Practitioner for the past 30+ years into each treatment. I take your full history, the aim and purpose of what you are wanting to achieve and blend the different techniques that I use into a treatment.

The techniques I use will vary from very light neuro-meningeal and Craniosacral Therapy moving to deeper techniques including stretching, deep tissue trigger point therapy and fascial release treatment. I may also give you Postural Corrective Exercises or Kinesiotaping® for at home treatment.

Remedial Therapy can help with...

  • Headaches, migraines and concussion

  • Posture and movement problems

  • Stress and tension related problems

  • Chronic fatigue and tiredness

  • Muscle and joint pain

  • Sports injury, rehabilitation and performance

  • Strengthening and lengthening muscles

  • Pre and post surgery

  • Pain in peri and menopause aged women

Frequently asked questions

What do I wear?

Please wear loose fitting clothes. You will stay fully clothed throughout the session.

Do you explain what you are doing?

Yes. I will explain (in full detail) what the treatments I am doing and why. I believe in you having knowledge of what I am working on, why and what the treatment does.

Do you do Massage Therapy?

I no longer do oiled massage. However the Remedial Therapy Treatment and Craniosacral Therapy are all hands on therapies and are adjusted to the depth of pressure required. These treatments are covered by Southern Cross under Massage Therapy as they are hands on Therapies. You leave clothes on for these therapies and no oil is used.

Do I have to choose the treatment before I book?

No, each session is designed for what you need. You may only have Craniosacral Therapy in one session and the next may include full stretching and deep tissue trigger points.

Do I have to be an athlete to have Remedial Therapies?

No, Remedial Therapy is for all ages and stages. We all have pain and imbalance at some stage in life. This treatment is designed to decrease your pain and increase your mobility and strength no matter what age or stage you are in life.

Do you offer Remedial Therapy at both clinics?

Yes, at both the Morrinsville and Cambridge clinic. See the locations here

Does Medical Insurance cover treatments?

Southern Cross Insurance covers all of my treatments if you have Wellbeing One or Wellbeing Two policies with the Body Care Module added to it as I am a Level 6 MANZ registered Massage Therapist. You can use the Easy-claim payment within the clinic. This saves having to pay and then submit receipts to your provider. Other Insurance companies may pay retrospectively. I am happy to provide receipts for treatments.

Kind words

"I had Heather's support last year when I was preparing for a hysterectomy. She did two sessions to help my body prepare for surgery. After both sessions not only did my body feel more prepared but I felt more mentally prepared to go into the surgery. After a successful surgery I healed very fast and pain free. I put this down to the prep work that Heather and I did. The surgeons couldn't believe how free and easy I was moving and how quickly afterwards."
